Falling asleep can be impossible when you have an overactive mind, even if you’re exhausted. Anxiety, rumination about the day, or worrying about tomorrow are all ways to keep yourself up, not to mention general insomnia or the temptation to check the latest on Twitter. Keeping this in mind, we’ve created a podcast that helps you fall asleep.

Sleep Tonight is a podcast that might introduce some calm to your mind as you fall asleep. Each episode is far over an hour in length, giving you enough time to drift off to sleep, filled with relaxing music or other non-invasive audio. Slow music, sounds of nature and ambience are all available to play as you fall asleep. Put an episode on your podcast app of choice’s sleep mode and know that your phone won’t be playing music all night.

Sleep is essential for the brain, your mood, and your health. This isn’t just the case for those living with mental illness either, according to a report published by Harvard Health, “the brain basis of a mutual relationship between sleep and mental health is not yet completely understood. But neuroimaging and neurochemistry studies suggest that a good night’s sleep helps foster both mental and emotional resilience, while chronic sleep deprivation sets the stage for negative thinking and emotional vulnerability.”

In the context of mental illness, the report continues that, “although scientists are still trying to tease apart all the mechanisms, they’ve discovered that sleep disruption — which affects levels of neurotransmitters and stress hormones, among other things — wreaks havoc in the brain, impairing thinking and emotional regulation. In this way, insomnia may amplify the effects of psychiatric disorders, and vice versa.”

Sleep Tonight is available on all podcast platforms. Learn more by visiting our website or by following us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or TikTok.
